Detection on insertion
Absent or removed media: Recovery is unavailable. Inserting or reinserting valid media makes the method available without unlocking the PC.
Recovery
Prepare the way back before you need it.
Recovery media, detection on insertion, and Safe Exit exist so that effective protection never becomes a trap.
Creating recovery media
- Plug in a USB key, an SSD, or an external drive.
- Select the detected medium in the list.
- Give it a recognizable name, for example “backup USB”.
- Create the medium, then store it somewhere other than the computer it protects.
At most three media can be active. Registration persists after restart; migration of a legacy registration is supported without overwriting an existing destination.
Using it when it matters
Explicit use
Valid media already present may remain usable. Choose Recovery; the PC verifies the proof and local policy before any unlock.
Accepted types
USB key, external SSD, or external hard drive, identified by their real type in the list.
Keeping control of your media
Revoke
The medium can no longer unlock this PC, while remaining visible in the list.
Delete
The medium is removed permanently. The action is irreversible: a new one must be created.
Grant temporary access
Registered media can receive a right to recover that is time-limited or valid until revoked.

Closing the application is a sensitive action: it stops keyboard and mouse protection.

Authentication is required before closing ScreenShield21 is authorized.
The password stays available
It cannot be disabled and serves as the fallback method in every case.
No commercial lockout
A subscription state must not, by itself, trap a legitimate user out of their own computer.
These paths reduce the risk of lockout. They do not guarantee access in every scenario and never bypass authentication.
